Whole Foods Markets

Developed the design of several unique stores for this renowned Austin-based organic/sustainable foods retailer. Project locations included New York City - Bowery and London England (both 'flagship' stores) as well as West Hartford CN, and Portland ME.

Wheatsville Food COOP

Expansion and renovation of an iconic and culturally-sensative community grocery cooperative in Austin, Texas. Incorporated a number of sustainable design solutions including early use of Insulated Concrete Forms (ICFs) and spectrally sellective low-E glazing in windows. This project was recognized by the Austin Energy Green Building Program (the first green building program in the nation).

TRIO - Four Seasons Hotel Austin

The Four Season Hotel overlooks scenic Lady Bird Lake at the heart of Austin Texas.. This project entailed the renovation of the hotel's restaurant and kitchens into an intimate, sophisticated, and contemporary venue specializing in fine steaks, fresh seafood, and exceptional wines.

Kilbourne Square

Awarded a 'People's Choice Award' in the 2011 international design competition 'Downtown Fargo: An Urban-Infill Competition', this proposal consists of a dynamic urban plaza w/underground parking and developed perimeter properties, in lieu of the mixed-use high-rise of most proposals. David's' contributions included development strategies and consultations addressing the socio-environmental strategies addressing the competition's sustainability requirements.

Indian Trails Aquatic Center

Complete renovation of a 1970's suburban Kansas City swimiing pool into a family friendly civic aquatic complex. Amenities included shaded 'sand-play areas', picnic areas, water slides, 'zero-depth pools', patio fountains, changing/locker huts, and elevated life-guard shelter. Role of 'Project Architect' required overall coordination of design/engineering team and general contractor throughout construction. Project was recognized in the 'AIA Guide to Kansas City Architecture & Public Art'.

Hoopeston Public Library

Historically sensitive addition and renovation to an original Carnegie library in Hoopeston, IL. The addition reflects many of the classical proportions, patterns, and details of the original while incorporating updated technologies, building codes, and ADA accessibility. This was one of several Illinois community libraries developed working with Olsen+Associates.
